When it comes to engagement sessions in Washington, D.C., The Wharf has my heart. It’s one of my favorite places to shoot because there are so many dreamy backdrops packed into just a few blocks. Whether we’re capturing intimate moments inside a sleek hotel lobby, popping bubbly on the pier, or soaking in golden hour light from the rooftop of La Vie—every corner of The Wharf offers something magical.

For this engagement session, we kicked things off inside one of the chic hotels at The Wharf. The grand staircase immediately caught our eye—it was the perfect blend of elegance and architectural charm. Add in some gorgeous natural light streaming through the windows, and we were in photographer heaven! The couple looked incredible, and those early shots felt soft, stylish, and full of quiet romance.

From there, we took a stroll to La Vie—an absolute gem perched above the water. Their rooftop is a total showstopper, with sweeping views of the Potomac and plenty of space to soak in the skyline. It was the perfect setting for a few editorial-style portraits before the couple changed into their second look.

Once they slipped into their casual outfits, it was time for some fun. We wandered down Pearl Street, laughed our way past restaurants and string lights, and ended up at the pier just in time for a celebratory champagne toast. The bubbly was flowing, the sun was setting, and they couldn’t stop smiling. Those moments? Pure joy.
